A surveyor and a football club are looking for very different things

Based in Wiltshire and working across the UK, Boss Drone Photography provides aerial photography and video for commercial clients. The work ranges from building inspections to sports clubs, venues, events and business marketing. Although the same drone skills sit behind each commission, the reasons for hiring Mike can be quite different.

A surveyor needs clear visual evidence from a difficult-to-reach part of a building. A football club may want distinctive matchday content without disrupting the fixture. A venue needs images that show its scale and atmosphere after dark. The website has to help each of those people recognise that Mike understands the job they have in mind.

Cornerstone originally built the site for Mike Boss Photography. As drone work became a more distinct part of the business, the existing website was gradually reshaped around the services clients were asking for. It later adopted the Boss Drone Photography name and identity, with focused pages added as the offer developed.

What the project included

  • Development of the existing Cornerstone-built photography website
  • Website repositioning around commercial drone services
  • Updated homepage structure and design
  • Presentation of the Reading Football Club project
  • Targeted pages for commercial surveyors, sports clubs and the night-time economy
  • Application of Mike’s supplied Boss Drone identity
  • Managed hosting and maintenance
  • Domain management and business email
  • Continuing website development and support

Keep the website. Change what it needed to say.

The earlier website already provided a sound home for Mike’s photography. The problem was not that it had stopped working. It was that a broad portfolio no longer gave enough prominence to the commercial drone services Mike wanted to develop.

Cornerstone’s initial proposal was therefore to rework the existing site rather than replace it. The homepage became more service-led, aerial photography and video were given clearer routes, and the visual presentation was adjusted to feel appropriate for commercial enquiries.

This kept the useful foundations while changing the emphasis. Visitors could still see the quality of Mike’s work, but the website began doing more to explain where that work fitted and why a business might need it.

An existing website can change direction without starting again.

Cornerstone retained the sound foundation and reorganised the site around Mike’s developing commercial drone services.

Use a real project to show how the work is handled

Reading Football Club gave the website a strong example of the difference between owning a drone and planning a professional commission.

The relationship began with aerial imagery and video of the stadium. Reading later asked Mike to photograph the training ground and return for matchday footage. That final commission required particular care. Unauthorised drone activity can stop a football match, so Mike worked from a safe distance and used a zoom lens to produce the required views without flying over the game.

The project earns its place on the homepage because it answers several questions at once. It shows the visual quality of the work, the scale of client Mike can support and the judgement needed when the location is busy or operationally sensitive.

Strong images matter. So does knowing how to get them safely.

The Reading FC project shows the planning and restraint behind work produced in a demanding live environment.

Give each client a useful place to begin

As Boss Drone developed, one general description of aerial photography became less helpful. Cornerstone added focused pages for three distinct areas of work.

The roof-inspection page is written for commercial surveyors. It explains the availability of high-resolution photographs and 4K video for roofs, gutters, flashing and chimneys, as well as work connected with dilapidations, pre-acquisition surveys and insurance. The emphasis is on seeing hard-to-reach areas clearly without unnecessary access equipment or disruption.

The sports-club page covers matchday visuals, sponsor material, promotional content and facility photography. The night-time economy page addresses venues, events and town-centre campaigns, where the ability to work legally after dark is part of the service rather than a footnote.

Each page starts with the prospective client’s situation. Mike’s imagery then provides the evidence.

Different clients should not have to translate the same generic sales page.

Focused routes help surveyors, sports clubs and venue operators find the information that matters to their commission.

Bring the new identity into the website without rebuilding it

The business later adopted the Boss Drone Photography name and a new visual identity supplied by Mike. Cornerstone applied that identity to the existing website and adjusted the design so the new logo, colours and specialist positioning felt consistent across the site.

This change happened alongside the addition of new service pages. The website could move from Mike Boss Photography to the more focused Boss Drone offer without losing the work already invested in its structure and content.

It was another proportionate step in the same process. The business had become clearer about the clients it wanted to reach, so the website changed with it.

A new identity did not require another new website.

Cornerstone applied Mike’s supplied Boss Drone identity while retaining and developing the existing build.

Keep supporting the business as it develops

Boss Drone has not been treated as a website that was completed and left alone. Cornerstone continues to provide its hosting, maintenance, domain management and business email, as well as making website changes when Mike introduces a new service or wants to address a different audience.

That work sits within a wider relationship. Cornerstone also designed, built and manages The Boss Corporation website, Mike’s separate asset-finance business. The two websites serve very different markets, but Mike has one established website partner who understands both businesses and the systems behind them.

For Boss Drone, that continuity has allowed the site to change in stages. New pages and a new identity have been added when the business needed them, without turning each development into a fresh website project.

The website has been able to change without becoming a recurring rebuild.

Hosting, maintenance and continuing development give Mike one established point of contact as Boss Drone evolves.

A clearer website for a more focused business

Boss Drone Photography now gives commercial clients a structured route through Mike’s aerial work. They can find the service that matches their situation, understand how Mike approaches it and see a relevant example before making contact.

The website itself has followed a similarly practical path. Cornerstone retained the original build, shifted its emphasis towards services, added targeted routes and applied the supplied Boss Drone identity as the business developed.

The result is a specialist website that has grown through useful changes rather than repeated restarts, with the hosting and ongoing support kept under the same roof.
