The website needed attention before it needed new ideas

Cornerstone’s relationship with Skerritt Electrical began with a trusted introduction. Mark Greenhall of Arrow IT, Skerritt’s outsourced IT partner and an existing Cornerstone website client, recommended Scot when the company’s previous website supplier was closing.

The immediate problem was continuity. The website needed moving to dependable hosting, but control was divided between the existing host, WordPress, the domain account and Cloudflare. Once access had been recovered and the site was safe, it was also clear that the ageing build would make future maintenance increasingly awkward.

Skerritt did not want a redesign for the sake of it. The company wanted to retain a familiar website, restore control over everyday content and move onto technology that could be supported properly. That initial rebuild became the foundation for a longer relationship which has continued through new ownership, new services and a much broader role for the website.

What the relationship includes

  • Legacy website and hosting takeover
  • Like-for-like rebuild in Themeco Pro
  • Managed hosting and maintenance
  • Editable team, company and project content
  • News archive and individual article layouts
  • Flexible templates for Skerritt and TSG services
  • Navigation, supplied-brand application and design development
  • Contact-form and spam-protection improvements
  • Content-management guidance and training
  • Ongoing website design and support

A careful rebuild, not change for its own sake

The original Skerritt website was established and recognisable. Its design was not the problem. The difficulty lay beneath it, in an older build that depended on ageing commercial components and no longer gave the company straightforward control over its own content.

Cornerstone rebuilt the site like for like in Themeco Pro. The familiar appearance and structure were retained, while the underlying website moved onto a maintainable foundation. Outdated company information and broken behaviours could be corrected without turning the project into an unnecessary rebrand.

This approach also reduced disruption. Skerritt received a website that looked like its own, while gaining a cleaner route for maintenance, content changes and future development.

Changing the technology did not mean changing the business.

The new build preserved the website Skerritt recognised while replacing the ageing structure behind it.

Everyday updates should not become development projects

Steve Hall wanted the Skerritt team to regain control of ordinary website tasks. Staff profiles needed to reflect the current team. Company information had to be editable, and project case studies needed somewhere they could be developed over time.

The Themeco Pro rebuild restored that practical control. Skerritt could manage routine information itself, while Cornerstone remained available for maintenance and changes that needed more design or technical involvement.

That balance still matters. A business should not have to contact a developer to correct every job title, but it should have someone who already understands the site when a more substantial change is required.

Routine changes could stay routine.

Skerritt regained control of day-to-day content, with experienced support available when the work went beyond a simple edit.

New ownership without another website restart

Skerritt became part of TSG Solutions Group in July 2024. Steve introduced Cornerstone to Rene Willemsen, TSG’s Head of Marketing, so that the website could begin reflecting the new relationship.

The first visible change was straightforward: adding the new company logo. More importantly, TSG inherited a supported website and an established working relationship. There was no need to find a new supplier, explain the old decisions from the beginning or commission another rebuild simply because the ownership had changed.

As TSG’s plans developed, Cornerstone could work from a website it already understood. The relationship moved naturally from maintaining Skerritt’s established site to helping it represent a wider and changing service offer.

A change of ownership did not require another rebuild.

TSG gained a working website, an established support relationship and a practical route for the changes that followed.

New scope from TSG gave the website room to develop

During 2025, TSG and Cornerstone began a more substantial programme of work. The site gained a structured news area, revised navigation and flexible service-page templates. New routes brought Skerritt’s established electrical work together with wider TSG services including EV charging, solar power and battery storage.

Cornerstone designed and built the layouts around the content TSG needed to publish. The templates were deliberately flexible, allowing sections to be moved, repeated or removed without every new service page becoming a separate design exercise.

TSG supplies and manages the website content. Cornerstone supports that work with the structure, design guidance and technical help needed to keep the result consistent. Training and practical advice have helped Niki Ramsden and the TSG team make routine changes themselves, while more involved work remains with Cornerstone.

New services needed a system, not a collection of one-off pages.

Reusable layouts gave TSG room to add and manage content while keeping the Skerritt website coherent.

The website continues to change in useful ways

The relationship has continued through contact-form improvements, spam protection, navigation changes and further development of the way services are presented. Some requests are small. Others need design decisions, testing or coordination with TSG’s wider systems.

Cornerstone continues to provide hosting, maintenance and website support. Skerritt retains management of its domain, while TSG remains responsible for the content and project imagery. Each party has a clear role, and there is an established route for resolving the details where those responsibilities meet.

The benefit is not that the website is ever declared finished. It is that Skerritt and TSG have a site which can keep changing without repeatedly returning to the beginning.

The website has matured as the business has changed.

Ongoing hosting, maintenance and design support allow useful improvements to be made without disrupting what already works.

Still recognisably Skerritt, with room to keep moving

Cornerstone’s work with Skerritt began by securing and rebuilding an established website. The initial project preserved the existing design while replacing the ageing technology beneath it.

Since TSG acquired the company, the website has developed further through new branding, service routes, news content and more flexible page structures. It remains recognisably Skerritt, but now has the support and adaptability needed to represent a broader business.

That continuity is the real outcome of the project: a website that has remained useful through changes in technology, people, ownership and scope.
