Zhong Ding International

Zhong Ding brings together several martial traditions, generations of teachers and an international network of students. A short list of styles would have said very little about what holds that network together.

The public website therefore begins with the founders’ description of Zhong Ding as a worldwide family. The About area introduces the association and its founders, while The Source records the masters and senior teachers behind the arts practised within it. Articles and supporting pages give the history and ideas room to be understood in context.

Cornerstone shaped this material into a clear public structure. The design feels current, but it does not treat the association’s history as decoration or turn distinct traditions into interchangeable fitness classes.

Someone looking for a class may begin with a place, a particular martial art or simply a wish to find out what is available nearby. The website needed to support each of those routes.

Cornerstone created a structured class directory that visitors can browse by geographical area and martial art. Each class has its own page for the venue, time, teacher and contact information. Teacher profiles and The Source add useful context, helping a prospective student understand both who is teaching and where that teaching comes from.

This gives instructors a consistent place within the main association website and removes the need for every class or regional group to explain Zhong Ding from the beginning.

The old brochure website stopped before membership administration began. The new site needed to support different categories of student and instructor membership in the UK and internationally, with the correct access and payment route for each one.

Cornerstone configured MemberPress and Stripe, created the membership routes and migrated existing members into the new system. Access rules separate public information from material intended for members or instructors. The login was styled as part of the website, rather than leaving people to arrive at a disconnected WordPress screen.

The work went beyond installing a membership plugin. The roles, payments, protected areas and redirects had to agree with one another so that people reached the right part of the site and private material remained private.

Physical classes and seminars remain central to Zhong Ding, but an international membership also needs ways to learn and communicate between those meetings.

The private side of the website combines protected resources with a BuddyPress and Youzify community. Members can maintain profiles, join groups and take part in discussions. Instructor-only areas provide another level for material and conversation that should not be publicly available.

This is a practical extension of the association rather than a social feature added for appearance. It gives members in different countries a shared place to return to while respecting the distinction between public, member and instructor content.

A membership website cannot depend on its designer for every new class, teacher or article. Zhong Ding’s officers can manage memberships, classes, teacher information, forum activity, news and articles themselves as the association changes.

That control sits within a supported arrangement. Cornerstone provides the hosting, maintenance, domain management and business email, and remains available for technical work and wider website improvements. Project correspondence since launch shows the relationship continuing through membership questions, payment issues and content changes.

The result is a substantial system that the committee can use day to day without being left alone with its more technical parts.
