Cornerstone Partner: Cornerstone Photography

Good website photography is not added at the end to fill empty spaces. It helps explain the business, show what customers are buying and give the design something real to work with.

Cornerstone Websites and Cornerstone Photography can be commissioned separately. When a project needs both, the website structure, written content and photography can be planned together from the start.

Websites and photography, planned together

Start with what the website needs to show

A useful website needs more than a collection of attractive images. The photography has to support the pages, fit the available spaces and show the details customers need to understand. Planning the site and shoot together means the image list can follow the structure and content rather than being worked out afterwards.

We begin with the business, the audience and the job of each page. That might mean showing the layout and setting of a holiday property, the food and atmosphere of a restaurant, the people behind a service or the detail and finish of a product.

From there, we can plan the written content, page structure and shot list together. Wide website headers, portrait crops, close details and images with space for text can all be considered before the shoot.

One joined-up plan for the website and imagery

Cornerstone Websites plans, designs, builds, hosts and supports the website. Cornerstone Photography plans and produces the commercial photography, video and aerial imagery.

The services remain available separately. When they are combined, they can follow the same brief, timetable and intended uses, reducing the gaps and duplicated conversations that arise when separate suppliers work from different assumptions.

How the two services work together

The exact mix depends on the business. The useful part is agreeing what the website must communicate and producing the right imagery for those pages and wider marketing.

Website planning and design

1

Website planning and design

Cornerstone Websites plans the structure, content and customer journeys, then designs and builds the site in WordPress. Image requirements are identified while the pages are being planned, not after the layout is finished.

Property and interiors

2

Property and interiors

Photography can cover interiors, exteriors, facilities, details and the surrounding setting for holiday lets, hotels, venues, architects and property businesses. Aerial stills or video can be included where appropriate.

Food and hospitality

3

Food and hospitality

Real dishes, drinks, dining spaces, bedrooms, teams and working details can be photographed for websites, menus, booking platforms and wider marketing. The shoot is planned around how the venue actually operates.

Brands, people and workplaces

4

Brands, people and workplaces

A planned brand shoot can cover the people behind the business, workplaces, processes, services and customer experience. The result is a consistent image library for the website, social media, print and campaigns.

Products and headshots

5

Products and headshots

Product photography can provide accurate packshots, ecommerce images and contextual photographs. Headshots can be produced consistently for individuals or teams, on location or with a portable setup.

Video and aerial imagery

6

Video and aerial imagery

Commercial video can include property walk-throughs, website header footage, brand and workplace films, launches and shorter social edits. Aerial footage or stills can be planned as part of the same brief where suitable.

When the website and photography should be planned together

Planning both services together is particularly useful when a business is:

  • launching a new business or brand;
  • replacing a website that no longer represents the business;
  • opening or refreshing a property, venue or accommodation business;
  • updating imagery that has become dated or incomplete;
  • introducing a new product, service or team; or
  • planning a campaign, launch or seasonal update.

Planning both services together is most useful when the website and imagery need to change at the same time. It gives the shoot a clear purpose and helps the finished photographs work beyond the website as well.
